Aural Standards is the home of Los Angeles journalist Chris Martins, who specializes in both his city’s musical bleeding edge and bloody stumps further flung. Martins is a frequent contributor to Spin, L.A. Times, A.V. Club (the pop culture wing of The Onion), and L.A. Weekly. He’s also worked with All Things Considered, Los Angeles mag, Flaunt, GOOD, Playboy and URB, among others. He was once the editor of Filter, and also L.A. city editor for The Onion. He sometimes DJs, picks music for movies or throws events. Martins is a Bay Area born, USC Annenberg blah blah who lives in Silver Lake and likes craft beer.
